Song Ru Ware 宋汝窑

Ru ware is the rarest and most revered of all Chinese ceramics — fired for barely two decades around 1100 for the Northern Song imperial court, with fewer than a hundred whole pieces surviving today. Its glaze is the colour the Song called "sky after rain" (雨过天青): a muted duck-egg blue-green, neither blue nor green, laid over a buff biscuit body that warms through at thin edges.

This system treats the glaze itself as the ground. There is no decoration — Ru was prized precisely for what it refused: no painting, no gilding, no dragons. What remains is the fine "crab-claw" crackle webbing the surface, vast quiet negative space, and a single vessel held in focus. It is restraint as the entire aesthetic argument.

汝窑是中国陶瓷之冠，传世不足百件。它只为北宋宫廷烧造了约二十年便戛然而止，留下那一抹被宋人称作「雨过天青」的釉色——一种介于青与碧之间的鸭蛋色，温润含蓄，覆在微微泛黄的香灰胎之上，薄处透出胎骨的暖意。

这套设计系统以釉面本身为底。汝窑之贵，贵在它的「不为」：不绘彩、不描金、不刻龙凤。所剩的，唯有蟹爪般细密的开片纹、大片留白的空寂，以及对单一器形的凝视。克制，就是它全部的美学主张。
