Alvaro Siza White

Alvaro Siza White distills the sculptural modernism of Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza into a design language. Brilliant white-rendered plaster walls catch the hard Atlantic sun and throw deep sea-grey shadow, as in the Leça swimming pools and the Boa Nova tea house.

Rather than a lazy blown-out white, the ground reads the plaster in its cool shadow tone — a sea-grey-tinted pale grey. Pure white is the signature lit plane; cool exposed concrete, the Atlantic, and a single Riga-wood warmth support it. Clean geometric sans throughout.
