Varsity Letterman

The letterman jacket is a credential you wear. A Melton-wool body in a deep school colour carries contrasting leather sleeves, ribbed-knit trim and a chenille-on-felt letter awarded for making the team. Born from Harvard's 1865 flannel-lettered baseball shirts, it matured into a North American campus uniform between 1950 and 1990 — saturated navy, school gold and crimson.

This system treats the wool body as the ground. Type is heavy block collegiate; surfaces are felt, chenille and knit rather than glass. Cream appears only where the leather sleeves and ribbing do — never as the page. Every element should read like an earned patch, not a printed page.
